My mom is 75 an and couple times a year she gets a red hot rash from her feet to her chest. It does not itch. she went to her physician years ago and he said to just take Benadryl when it happens. Trying to convince her to see a specialist. It really knocks her out. she had scarlett fever when she was young

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Benadryl is an antihistamine, there are non drowsy anti histamines that she can use that would not cause drowsiness in most of the persons who use them.

Eg loratidine, cetirizine, fexofenadine

If you are not comfortable then she should see a dermatologist when the lesions are present for a second opinion.

I hope this helps
