If you are sensitive to the class of medicines called fluoroquinolones of which one is ciprofloxacin, you should have informed to your treating doctor. Itching is one of the side effects of ciprofloxacin (fluoroquinolones), it can cause other serious side effects also. Get connected with your treating doctor so that the medicine can be replaced by another that suits you better. Cephalexin works well in cases of simple UTI infections. Drink plenty of water. Water helps to dilute your urine and flush out bacteria. Avoid taking coffee, alcohol, and soft drinks containing citrus juices or caffeine until the infection has cleared.
