Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Safe To Take Clonazepam Or Nitrazepam Along With Lexapro?
Hello, I currently take 10mg of lexapro in the morning for anxiety. I also have bad insomnia I have tried temazepam which did not work at high dosage. I am able to get Nitrazepam or Clonazepam and wondering if any of the two would be safe to take to help sleep while taking the lexapro. Thank you.
As per my clinical experience, the Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine group of sedative drug. The Lexapro contains Escitalopram, a specific molecule in category ofSelective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI). Both of above can be consumed together (preferably at interval of 4 hours or more) without risk of any adverse drug interaction.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
