Is It Safe To Take Cyclobenzaprine While On Synthroid For Hypothyroidism?
Yes please. My doctor gave me cyclobenzaprine for muscle spasm of neck and shoulder. I noticed on information sheet it should not be taken if you have thyroid problem. I am on synthroid for hypothyroidism. Should I not take this medication???????? Or is it okay to take ???????
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.
Cyclobenzaprine is contraindicated in HYPERTHYROIDISM not HYPOTHYROIDISM. You are hypothyroid. You may take the medication but for a very short period of time. consult your physician for details as he knows your medical history and all that.
It is usually recommended for 2-3 weeks.
Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.
Have a wonderful time ahead.
Best Regards!
