Is It Safe To Take Duphaston For Vaginal Spotting?
Hi doc, im madz.. I hope you could help me with this problem. I was diagnosed to have PCOS november 2014 and She prescribed me with pills. I took it but i missed my dose this May 2015. Until now i am no longer taking the said pills. Month of June and july of this year i had light menses and after 2weeks i had unusual bleeding or spotting.. From july 25 until now im having spotting, which is dark red/brown... Then i consulted my gyne she advised me to take duphaston i tab 2x a day for 5 days.. I forgot to mention that i am having these spotting, so is it safe for me to take duphaston doctor? Thank u
Yes, you can take duphaston. This drug contains progesterone derivative which can help in regularising your cycles. After stopping the drug, you will experience withdrawal bleeding by 5 to 7 days. The more important thing is to identify the cause of the irregular periods. Pelvic ultrasound can rule out any uterine or ovarian abnormalities. Hypothyroidism can also hormonal imbalance.Hence thyroid function test is also essential.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
