Is It Safe To Take Equate Natural Laxative For Constipation Prior Having Facelift Surgery?

Hi I have surgery with general anestetic in 4 days. I would like to take Equate Natural Sennoside 8.6 tabs for constipation but my surgeon wants all supplements stopped two weeks prior to surgery. We do not want excessive bleeding as the surgery is my face, lower facelift. I would appreciate your thoughts on this please? THank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
when a person is elected to surgery, all the supplements and drugs should be stopped with a exception of few drugs.
during surgery there will be very less bleeding and it can be controlled during surgery itself by an anesthetist, so need not panic.
your symptom present now can be treated pre-operatively with safer medications.
hence i would advise, right now taking supplements is not necessary.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
