Is It Safe To Take Folvite For Beta Thalassemia Minor During Pregnancy?
Hi doctor, I have beta thalassemia minor and I am 10 week 5 days pregnant, my doctor prescribed me folvite 5mg but my other friend is taking fol 123 which contains DHA also. So I am confused which folic acid is better ? I have thalassemia so I should take more iron but I have been not prescribed any iron suppliment . What should I do?

The folic acid is mainly to prevent neural tube defects in your child. Iron needs to be carefully managed and balanced. As you have BTM, you will require iron but in carefully managed doses. Speak to your doctor and a change can be made. But do not initiate anythong yourself okay?
