Is It Safe To Take Glycomet Along With Insulin For Diabetes?
For over a decade I am diabetic and have been on Insulin (Human Mixtard - 30/70) with 22 units before breakfast and 18 units before dinner. Nowadays for over a year my blood sugar is not controlled.Fasting is around 132 and PP is around 200. May I take Glycomet or any combined drug in between meal?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern that you need to keep your blood glucose under control. Fasting levels of 132mg% and post-prandial levels of 200mg% is quite a good control to achieve with the units of insulin dose you are taking. You should never decide on your own to take medications like Glycomet or other oral hypoglycemic drugs on your own. Also blood glucose levels are not the only parameters to decide to add or subtract a drug. It is decided along with Glycated hemoglobin levels (HbA1c). You can control your blood glucose levels still further by means of diet and exercise, as there are also important component to stabilize glucose homeostasis. Kindly consult Diabetologist or Physician in this regard and take proper advise. Hope the information provided is clear. Wish you good health.
