Is It Safe To Take Imodium And Voltaren Together?

I have been administered Voltaren SR 75mg tablets for a possible tendon strain in my knee. I took 2 tablets yesterday starting at 2 pm and by 8pm started suffering fairly severe diarrhea. This ha continued all night to liquid stage. can I take imodium and also do I continue to take the voltaren?

Imodium contains loperamide that is used in the treatment of diarrhea. On the other hand, Voltaren SR contains diclofenac that is used in the treatment of various painful conditions like arthritis, osteoarthritis, headache, toothache, fever and many more. But it may not be safe to take Imodium when you are on Voltaren SR. According to Imodium and Voltaren drug interactions - a phase IV clinical study of FDA data that was created by EhealthMe, 286 people who took Imodium and Voltaren together and had interactions were noticed.

Common interactions are thrombosis, fatigue, abdominal pain, abnormal heart rhythms, raised blood pressure, breathing difficulties, cough, nausea or vomiting, GIT upset, tremor, tiredness and many more. So, without consulting your prescribing doctor you should not take Imodium along with Voltaren SR. You should also inform your doctor if you think that Voltaren SR is responsible for your present diarrhea.
