Is It Safe To Take Levlen And Nurofen For Indigestion?
Hi. Recently prescribed levlen, started taking it, had vomiting after eating a hamburger, took nurofen(ibuprofen) to soothe headache associated with what I thought was gastro. Severe vomiting straight after taking nurofen. I now have what I think is a huge hive(s) very painful, very painful when sitting. Huge lumps around my anus. I have been searching if there is a allergic reaction between levlen and nurofen. Can you please advise should I seek medical attention or try an over the counter anti histamine? Thankyou.

Levlen contains both levonorgestrel and ethinyl estrad that is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses. Nurofen contains ibuprofen that belongs to the group of medications known as non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs or NSAIDS is used in the treatment of headache, migraines, back pain, rheumatic pain, dental pain, inflammation, period pain, fever and many more. But, use of NSAIDS such as Ibuprofen like Nurofen isn't safe to use with birth control pills like Levlen. Concurrent use of Ibuprofen as well as Levlen and some diuretics can increase potassium levels in the blood that can cause cardiac and other problems. But no interactions or allergic reactions haven't been found between Nurofen and Levlen. Both Nurofen and Levlen may cause nausea, vomiting, gastric irritation, allergic reactions such as itching, rashes or hives, swelling and many more. If you notice such type of side effects during using these medications, then you should consult your doctor first for medical help. Antihistamines are the treatment of choice here.
