Is It Safe To Take Metformin For Type 2 Diabetes Since I Have Read That It Might Cause Heart Problems?

I HAVE type 2 diabetes , I was told by my doctor to start taking metformin and I have red about side affects and danger of affect on my heart,(I have A thickening of the heart muscle).
Can you tell me if it is ok and safe for me to take this medication?

Hello,
Since you said you are having type2 diabetes,so your doctor has started a very basic medicine for this i.e metformin which is very effective for newly diagnosed cases of diabetes and with less side effects too.Metformin though have some range of side effects like gastric upset,diarrhea,nausea etc.Its use is not indicated if any one have liver or kidney disease or alcoholism and MAJOR heart dysfuction.I think the metformin is suitable for you.So follow your doctors advise to take correct dose of the drug.Stay healthy.
