Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i'm undergoing laser hair removal for upperlipand full arms..finished 6 sittings but am not satisfied. the dermat said i may be having pcos but the usg and hormonal tests were normal.she suggested i start metformin tablets , is it safe and is it helpful?
Metformin should not be used unless a definite diagnosis of diabetes or PCOS is made. All drugs have potential side effects, so it may not be safe for you. I'm not sure what you would be using it for. It is not helpful for abnormal hair growth. There are several different conditions that may cause abnormal hair growth, but the treatments vary depending on the cause. Don't use metformin unless you are treating a specific condition that has been diagnosed and is known to respond to this drug. Hope this helps. If you have further questions, I would be happy to answer them.
