Is It Safe To Take Nordette As A Contraceptive Measure After Having Unsafe Sex?

Hi. I am really worried right now because the condom broke during our intercourse and it was already too late when we found out. We immediately searched for solutions and read about plan B but unfortunately plan B is not available in our country. I ve also read about nordette as emergency contraceptive pill so he immediately bought and and I took it immediately following the 4 pills dosage. I am still vey nervous right now. please enlighten me. the first day of my last period was on july 29 and the intercourse just happened this morning. I really hope this works. is it really effective?

Hi,

Nordette is a combined contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy. The drug can take 7 days to start action and hence the drug efficiency as an emergency contraceptive may be less.

So only an emergency contraceptive like levonorgesterol can give you reliable protection. In case such drugs are not available and only nordette is available, you can take it. But effectiveness is not complete.
