Is It Safe To Take Prednisone To Treat Tendonitis In Hand?

I have tendonitis in my hand and the doctor prescribed Prednisone 10 mg tablets 3 a day for 5 days. Today was the last dosage. I have noticed that the affected hand appears to be somewhat larger than the unaffected hand. Since this is a steroid, could that be the reason and since the medication will no longer be taken that I will see it appearing to be more normal in size soon?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

I doubt your limb has extended due to the steroid use and so I think this is all in your head. I am sure your limb was the same size as it was before the initiation of the steroids and above all the course was an extremely short one, and so it is extremely unlikely.

Best wishes.
