Hi Doctor, I have got pink eye for the last 6 days, I had consulted my family doctor and he prescribed tobramycin 0.3% eye drops. My eye is still quite red, I would like to know how many days does it take to become normal in case of pink eye. Do I have to consult ophthalmologists immediately? Thanks. Girish
Hello It seems from the history that you are diagnosed with pink eye and you are on treatment with tobramycin eye drops. Tobramycin eye drops is safe and it can be used for treatment of pink eye. if it is not responding to it you probably need to change the antibiotics in the form of moxifloxacin. Use of decongestant eye drops will provide symptomatic relief. Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for change of antibiotic eye drop depending on the response or culture and sensitivity report.
Thank you
