Is It Safe To Take Topiramate For Weight Loss While On Marijuana For Backache?
I have a question. I told my doctor that I can t seem to lose weight no matter how hard I try on my own. And he prescribed Topiramate 25mg (generic for Topamax). Its known to treat seizures, yet he said it had an effect on weight loss. He told me to try it. And to research it. We did talk about it extensively. I don t want to be a guinea pig, so to speak. Is it alright to take and plus I smoke Marijuana for my back. All my meds I take for my back. Only this is for weight loss. I am 56 years old and active.
Topiramate, has been found to cause weight loss. However, this is not very persistent. Keeping its side effects in mind, this is not recommended for weight loss solely. There are no justifications for its use as just for weight loss. So I would personally advise you not to do so.
For weight loss you should exercise and take the food that contains less calories. Sweets and wheat are rich in calories, so better avoid it.
There is a drug called Orlistat, which is approved for weight loss, but with a prescription only.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
