Is It Safe To Take Utodin For Vaginal Bleeding During Pregnancy?

Hello Dr I am 32 years old female with history of two early miscarriages. I am pregnant for third time and 25 weeks along. Had brown spotting and discharge through out the second trimester and diagnosed with posterior low lying placenta. Had one episode of bleed and was admitted for two days and given susten and duvadilan inj. After that my doc has put me on susten tab twice a day and utodin 10 mg thrice a day. My question is related to utodine i.e. Is it safe for the health of baby and mine to take this tab. There are lot of instances of mental problems associated with this drug to babies on internet even people filing law suits for it. It appears that its banned in UK/US. We are really worried for the well being of our baby. All tests including haemogram, urine, triple market, and cardiac anamoly are normal. Pls advice...

I understand your concern.
Utodin is indicated to control premature labor pains after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Utodin has side effects on mother in form of heart problems and fetal risks so Iv infusion is restricted only in emergency after 20 weeks.
In case labor pains start prematurely after 20 weeks , it can be tried with care & followed by oral pills till labor pains stop,but as the pills are not sure to control labor pains,bed rest & expectant treatment is preferred in these cases too- till the baby becomes viable .
In your case, you have risk of bleeding & premature labor along with fetal risk because of low lying placenta. In my opinion Tab. Susten ( for assurance of proper hormonal supply & maintenance of pregnancy , along with strict bed rest & tablet duvadelan in needful dose should suffice.
You should discuss the thing with your treating doctor OR have second opinion.
