Is It Safe To Take VIs It Safe To Take Vicodin Regularly?
My husband started taking 2 vicodin a day for about a year, a year ago. The DR. recently Gave him a prescription for 120 a month and has for the last year for back pain. I am afraid he may become addicted. He gets up everyday at 4 am and works hard to provide for his family. I am just concerned it may not be so good for his body. Should I be concerned?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
Vincodin consists of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. The drug is a good analgesic drug for severe pain conditions. Hydrocodone is an opioid drug and its continuous use may result in development of tolerance and this results in dependence and individuals may become addicted to that drug. As per my opinion he should not take the drug on regular basis for prolonged periods of time. If his pain is severe and persisting then opioid patches can be used. These provide sustained delivery of drug and which results in control of pain and low risk of dependence. Consult his doctor for prescription of the drug.
Thanks, hope this helps you. Take care
