Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have hypertension, i take 5 mg of vasotec every morning. Lately i've been getting bad headaches/migraines at night relieved only by vomitting. I reduced my sodium/ fried food intake but my bp is higher than ever 140/107, i see a reduction in my systolic with my vasotec, but my diastolic just seems to be getting higher
I understand your query. Well, Vasotec is a safe and reliable drug being used all over the world. It is Enalapril.
However, each drug can have a different effect on each patient. The symptoms that you are describing are occurring due to your increased diastolic pressure.
Since this drug is not having the desirable effect on you, I'd suggest you to visit your treating doctor and get your drug changed or another drug added (Whatever your doctor suggests you).
I'd like to reassure you that there is no reason to worry. There are several kind of anti-hypertensive drug available. We often get patients who are not getting relief from a certain drug and when we change it, the effect comes.
Wishing you good health. With warm regards, Dr. Sridhar Reddy
