Hello, my mother is 86 years old and has chronic anxiety/depression and particularly now is having great difficulty sleeping. She takes diltiazem for AFIB, levothyroxin for a thyroid issue, and xarelto for a history of blood clots in the legs. Last week, her physchiatrist prescribed Seroquel to help with the sleep and anxiety. It did put her to sleep for several hours at a time, but after taking it, it almost made her nerves/anxiety/jumpiness worse. We stopped it a couple of days ago until we see him next week for a followup. It seems like it was making things worse overall than better. At one point not too long ago, her PCP prescribed a small dose of clonazepam for extreme anxiety. Is it safe to take a clonazepam now to see if it could help her to relax/sleep, until we see her psychiatrist next week? Thanks!
