It is better to stop completely dear. afteral its your baby's health. The self control what you practice now will lead you a long way. Babies are born small and low weight if you take alcohol. Alcohol damages the link between you and the baby, leading to restricted blood flow and thereby the essential nutrients. I saw a video the other day as i am planning for my pregnancy. The video showed how the blood vessesl are affected and baby does not get nutrition, also its wastes dont come out well. Even smoking affects so keep away from smoke zones. I have already stopped my alcohol and smoking. I used to drink socially may be twice a week and smoke sometimes.
There's no scientific evidence that drinking moderately during pregnancy will affect your and baby's health but it is better to be safe than sorry.I have seen Italian women having red wine during pregnancy but in very moderate quantity. I have also seen Irish women having Guiness beer during pregnancy as some of them believe that it has iron in it. Very controversial topic scientifically like how much drinking, how frequent etc but just have a few sips to stop your craving but better to avoid it.
ANY alcohol or drugs during pregancy can actually cause the developing brain to get some kind of damage. You should completely stop drinking until after you have the baby. Also with alcohol women have been found to have difficult deliveries and even pre-mature (very low, unhealthy) weight babies.
