Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I took some advil PM about 6 hours ago, following an evening out including some wine, to help me sleep when I got home. I have still been having trouble sleeping and just took 1/2 an Ambien (5mg)- I had forgotten about the advil PM I took earlier and am kind of freaking out about an overdose (I expect and am fine w/ some side effects, just wanted to make sure I didn t accidentally take a lethal combination!)
It is not safe to take ambien while on advil PM. Cosuming wine together with advil PM and ambien may cause profound drowsiness, dizziness, increase, confusion, difficulty concentrating and gait disturbances.
This combination may also lead on to impaired consciousness or coma which can be fatal. Advised to go the emergency room of your nearby hospital immediately.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
