Is It Safe To Take Lasix With Gleevec?

Is it safe to take lasix with Gleevec? I have AML in remission but continue with my Gleevec medication. I am currently prescribed Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg one per day but it is not helping with the fluid retention being caused by the Gleevec. It is in fact doing nothing. Is Lasix better? I have a creatine level of 112 umol/L and a eGFR level of 43 which is low. Thank you

Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

With your levels of eGFR, i would avoid a prescription of lasix in my patient, when not on medical supervision. you see what happens is that lasix itself raises the creatinine further and a further fall in gfr may not be a good sign for you.

besides with aml, i would definitely suggest you inform your oncologist what you plan to do instead of taking blind opinions

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.

I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.
