Is It Safe To Take Medications For TB During Pregnancy?
How safe is safe this tb medication on pregnant women? Im on my 18 months and i was diagnosed with active tb recently and MD would like me start with medications right away. Please help. I need to make sure that this meds would not affect my developing baby inside of me.

Tuberculosis in pregnancy has a great stigma factor associated with it. However, all the four drugs given as anti tuberculosis are all safe in pregnancy and are not known to have any harmful affects on either on the forming baby on mother. But the drugs can derange the liver functions so they need to be monitored quite frequently and vigilantly. Vitamin B6 is mandatory for patients on ATT. So if I were your attending physician I would have recommend you to continue your anti TB treatment with frequent follow ups with doctor.
