Is It Safe To Take Plan B Twice Within Two Days After Having Unsafe Sex?
Hi I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend the day before yesterday and that was my first time. Although he didn t eject inside me, for safety reason I took a PlanB one-step pill yesterday. However we made the same mistake this later afternoon again and I took the planB pill again. I know I was stupid and I made mistakes and I m very regret right now. I want to know that will it influence my health in a bad way to take the pills twice in two days? Thank you very much I m worried too much right now.
Plan B is a high dose of the hormone progestin, which can disrupt the normal hormonal balance and menstrual cycle. Repeated use of emergency contraceptive pills can lead to irregular menstrual cycles, changes in menstrual flow, and decreased fertility. Plan B can also cause some other side effects such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, and dizziness.
Remember that emergency contraceptive pills are not intended for regular use and should not be used as a substitute for other forms of contraception. For this time, cannot set back. However, discuss with your gynecologist for the best contraception method intended for you.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
