Is It Safe To Take Rabies Shot During Pregnancy?

Hi, my sister is back in India and she is 8 weeks pregnant, she got bit by a street dog. She is not bleeding but she has a tooth mark. now the doctors are recommending her to take rabies shot. Do you think she needs to take that, and is the baby going to be ok after taking the shots?

Hi, thanks for writing..
It would be better to take this vaccine even if she is pregnant because benefit is more than side effects.. There is no definite well controlled study to determine the effects on the fetus.. No major anomalies are reported so far.. But the infection can affect the pregnant women faster if not treated properly.. Hope I have answered your query.. good day
