Is Rabipur Injection Sufficient Enough To Keep The Rabies Virus At Bay?
Hi Doctor. I am 29 years old and I have been bitten by dogs three times. First time when I was in School and took 5 or 8 injections around my stomach. Second time when I was studying my Intermediate and took Rabipur injections. And this month on 4th a street dog bite my palm and its bad. I took 3 Rabipur injections and two more injections to go. I am little scared because its the third time. Could you please tell me if Rabipur injections is sufficient enough to keep the Rabies virus at bay and what is Rabipur booster? Should I take it. Please advise. Thank you!!
As you have already completed anti-rabic treatment 2 times previously, so ideally this course should act as a booster itself and no more separate booster dose is required in your case. Normally, HRIG is also given, as a single dose at the time of first dose of injection Rabipur, however, as your Rabipur course itself is acting as a booster, you do not need HRIG even.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
