Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Safe To Travel By Flight After Having Stitches To Cervix During Pregnancy?
My wife is currently 14 weeks pregnant & had severe bleeding last friday. We went to a gynac immediately & she did a ultrasound. The baby is safe & has my wife on medication. She is currently OK, but during her last ultrasound, doctor suggested that the cervix is slightly open & she might have to take stitches. My question is it safe for her to air travel for around 1.5 hr after the stitches ? Or is it recommended to travel before the stitches are taken ?
I think you can take the stitches. She might have cervical incompetence so my suggestion is you have to take the stitches allow it to heal for 5 days and then take a flight. You will get more clarity. Once you speak with your treating gynecologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Asif, General & Family Physician
