Is It Safe To Treat Ear Infection At Home?
my 2 year old son has been crying since he woke up this morning saying that his ear hurts. He isnt running a temp, however, i can hear that he is slightly congested. I have given him some saline drops to try to break down the flym. Does he need to go to the ER for a possible ear infection, or can this be treated at home?

Noted the history about your 2 year old son crying since he woke up, says ear pain, has congestion, wants to know whether to take to ER or treat at home.
Since the son is just 2 years old, it is important to know the exact cause of pain in ear.
This can be due to otitis media that is fluid built up with possible infection in middle ear, ax, foreign body and so on.
Take him to your Doctor or an ENT Surgeon if available or ER if these two Doctors are not available.
He may need prescription based antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicine doses to be calculated as per weight. Hence the need of a Doctors.
It may be difficult for the family members to know the exact cause.
You can give him anti-inflammatory with painkiller property if it was given in past and if you know the exact doses, rest of the medicines are prescription based.
