Is It Safe To Undergo Hardware Removal From Tibial Plateau Fracture?
Need advice on whether to pursue hardware removal from tibial plateau fracture 2 years ago - have posterior plate in proximal tibia which is symptomatic (pain down anterior tibia with knee flexion/weight bearing), but would require posterior surgical approach through popliteal fossa - local surgeons say too risky
I do not think it is risky but yes it need some expertise. We routinely do these surgeries at our clinic so it is not a big deal. If implant is causing you problem then you can get it removed. If you want better opinion then send your x rays to me. This plate will be removed from same incision which was used to place plate inside.
