Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Safe To Undergo Vaginectomy While Suffering From Varicose Veins?
I am 83 and booked for stage4 pelvic prolapse surgery for mild discomfort. I am slightly overweight, Pre diabetic, have had two vein ligations and have serious varicose veins now and have had two DVTs. Would you advise me to go ahead with this surgery (vaginectomy)?
Before any surgery you should be fully evaluated for DVT and varicose veins. Secondly, how needy is the vaginectomy surgery for prolapse? What are your symptoms? Considering your age of 83, I would be worried about the fitness, possible complications of surgery itself and for DVT, varicose veins or so. Your team of doctors will decide all this after thorough clinical evaluation and supportive investigations.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
