Is It Safe To Use Benadryl Cream For Insect Bite On Thigh?

HI I GOT BIT BY SOME TYPE OF INSECT YESTERDAY EVENING AND TODAY ITS ABOUT 3 INCHES WIDE AND 1 IN HALF, ITS RED SWOLLEN ITCHES AND HOT TO THE TOUCH I APPLYED BENADRLY CREAM AND HAVE BEEN PUTTING COLD CLOTHS ON TI ITS ON MY UPPER THIGH,,, DEBATING WHETHER TO GO TO THE ER

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have insect bite and you applied benedryl cream on it . Well it is totally safe to use benadryl in case of insect bite as it is anti histamine drug and relieve inflammation due to allergic reaction . But i would suggest you to consult doctor if condition doesn't improve in 48 hours , because sometimes there is sting on insect inside wound , poison in wound which can spread to surrounding or there may be anaphylactic shoch . Doctor may give adrenaline shot or some antidote to counter the attack of poison .
