Is It Safe To Use Benadryl To Treat Small Red Bumps Caused After Tattooing?

MY DAUGHTER GOT A NEW TATTOO ON HER SIDE ON SATURDAY, AND STARTED TO DEVELOP SMALL RED BUMPS AROUND IT AFTER USING A & D OINTMENT. A PHARMACIST RECOMMENDED STOPPING THE OINTMENT AND TRY USING DIAL ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP INSTEAD AND ALSO PUTTING CUREL UNSCENTED LOTION ON IT INSTEAD AND TAKE BENADRYL. SO HOW SOON SHOULD THE RASH START TO GO AWAY ?

Hi..
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I have gone through your query and can understand your health concerns..

As per your complain you have got an allergic reaction to A & D ointment which contain Petrolatum and Lanolin leading to formation of red bumps..

You should take benadryl or Allegra 6O mg twice daily to relieve the allergy symptoms..
Apply steroid based ointment over the bumps to reduce the inflammation..
You can apply ice packs over the bumps..
Do not apply any cosmetic over the region and you can apply Curel lotion for lubrication and you should also prevent using any harsh soaps and only mild antibacterial soap can be used..
Clean the area with luke warm water..

The symptoms will slowly start resolving and can take a week or even a few more days to resolve completely..

Hope this information helps..
