Is It Safe To Use Budecort Nebuliser For Viral Croup In Children?
Is it safe to give budecort nebulization for my 6 year old? He sufferes from viral croup. And wenever, he gets a croup attack, doc advises asthalin/ duolin nebulization and budecort 0.5 mg ( for three days 12 hourly) and asthalin nebulization 3-4 times depending on cough. My question is that is budecort effective in bringing down croup cough?
Yes, it is a steroid and it will reduce the respiratory bronchiole inflammation and edema. But you have to wash mouth of the child every time after using this. So less chances of opportunistic infection. Use water vapour inhalation thrice a day for five days. Use antihistamines to decrease allergy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
