Is It Safe To Use Moisturizers While Suffering From Vitiligo?

I have a home narrow band UVB device to treat my vitiligo, which is mainly located on my scalp. I also have alopecia universalis, so the scalp vitiligo is obvious. I notice from time to time, esp. in the Summer, that my vitiligo sometimes get a bit out of control, and I ask myself what is going on. Can even minor sun exposure without sunscreen (even for 15 minutes) enhance the vitiligo? The skin on my scalp peels constantly where I have vitiligo spots, and I naturally apply moisturizer. Should I reduce my time spent in front of my UVB device so the skin does not peel, or is it a balancing act between a therapeutic dose and dry / peeling skin, and I should apply moisturizers as needed? If the latter, I hope the moisturizers will not enhance the vitiligo.
