Is It Safe To Use Narcotic Pain Medications Along With Butrans Patches?
I have very recently been prescribed butrans patches and tramadol for break through pain while my neurologist/pain management doctor is working on relieving my severe chronic neck and lower back pain that runs all down the way down my right leg with radio frequency among other injections and procedures. My question to you is how effective IS butrans pain patches, because I have never heard of them? Also, is it safe to take other narcotic pain medications while wearing them?
You have been prescribed Butrans patches and Tremadol for severe persisting back and leg pain. Butran patches consist of Buprenorphine which is an opioid drug and have excellent analgesic effect. The drug is stronger than Tremadol in analgesic effects in some pain conditions. The Butran patch ensured regular delivery of drug to target organs by local effects and this also reduces the risk of abuse potential. As the patches consist of opioid drug and taking the narcotic pain medicines along with Butran patches is not advised. This will result in development of tolerance and with time dependence. So I would not advise you to take narcotic pain medicines along with Butrans patches.
Hope this helps you, thanks.
