Is It Serious For A Drinker To Have Yellow Eyes, Swollen Feet And Body Rash?
hi my mother has been a serious drinker for over 25 years she is 52 her eyes have turned yellow feet are swollen and has a rash all over her body and is vomiting non stop. We have all tried to help her but wont acknowledge she has a drinking problem. She also seems not with it and her personality has changed. Please help me is this serious signs? thank you
Unfortunately, it appears that alcohol has caused serious damage to her liver and other organs. She seems to be jaundiced. Even the personality change can be due to alcohol. Whether the damage is reversible or not can be told only after further assessment. She needs urgent medical care and just stopping drinking would not be enough at this stage. She needs to be examined by a doctor and blood tests, initially routine ones to assess cell counts, liver and kidney function and later more specific ones must be done.
Hope she gets well soon. Best wishes.
