Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It To Be Worried About Child Having Spots Along With Skin Peeling And Cold?
I have noticed that my 17 month old son has circular red spots on his vertebrae towards the bottom, the redness has gone and now they seem to be peeling. He has also had a runny nose ( cold like symptoms) and diarrhea, but acts perfectly normal. Is this any type of serious condition and should I make a doctor s appointment?
There are many reasons for spots and rash to develop in children. Most types of rash in children are usually harmless and occur because of sweating and because the skin is sensitive.
These would usually subside with time and there would not usually be any associated symptoms like fever, pain, or crying.
Most people find using calamine lotion over the area useful. Drinking a lot of water, and wearing loose clothing would also help.
In case the symptoms persist over a week, seeing a doctor would be a good idea. The doctor would be able to identify the cause of the rash and suggest treatment if needed.
It would be a good idea to see a doctor right away if the symptoms persist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
