Is It Unusual To Experience Severe Pain In The Shoulder After Receiving A Cortisone Shot?

I had a cortisone shot in my shoulder today. After a couple of hours the pain has become a bit intense, where as before it was just uncomfortable. I have partial tears in the cuff not bad enough for surgery. The remedy iwas the shot and therapy. Is this unusual ?

Hello,

Local pain is not uncommon where the medicine is injected (intraarticular cortisone). Since it is anti-inflammatory, the pain will subside eventually. Cold compress therapy may help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
