Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi the top of my left big toe on the ball of it is very itchy a lot of the time driving me crazy in fact,I am worried it could be a sign i may be a diabetic .I have no no other itching, normal weight and no other symptoms.I am 47 and female and unfortunately diabetes runs in the family.
Hello dear I understand your concern Just itching in the toe is not the sign of the diabetes. But should be confimred by the blood tests as you have family history of the diabetes. It could be a allergic/contact dermatitis, fungal infection, neuropathy. I would suggest to go for fasting blood sugar, glycated hemoglobin to rule out the diabetes, KOH mount and physical examination to rule out the above causes. Apply local application of the benadryl and clotrimazole Keep the toe dry and clean and avoid sweating. Wear comfortable foot wear Hope this may help you
