Is Kidney Stone Removal Safe For An Elderly Man?

Hi I am writting from Turkey. My father is 87 years old .he is a mds patient .he taking blood transfusin every 15 days ,hgb is between 6 and 8. Now he has 2 kiddney 12mm stones. What I want to know is that. He has kiddney simptoms no pain dr says that it woud be good to remove tose 2 stones. He is an old person 87 years old he loosing blood sometimes he can not walk do you recommend him removing 2 stones or not we think that it might couse some other unternuable side effects please give us some advise thank you for your help

Hello,

Kidney stones need to be removed only if you have symptoms like severe pain. Otherwise no surgical intervention is needed.

In your case, your father is old and therefore it is better to avoid surgery since complications of surgery and anesthesia are more in this age group. Consult an experienced urologist in case of pain.
