Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Knee Replacement Advisable For Pain And Swelling In Leg?
I had meniscus surgery in June 2015. The doctor cut out the bad part and said I also had significant arthritis. With every step I take, I have pain and swelling daily. My doctor drained my knee 2 times and I have had 3 steroid shots. I am now wearing a Don Joy brace that does help the pain. What are my options without having to have a knee replacement? I have read some about the monovisc injection. How effective are those? Also, should I check into having the new meniscus surgery? I am seeing another doctor for a second opinion.
Hello dear welcome to HealthcareMagic Regarding your symptoms of persistent pain and swelling from your diagnosed chronic arthritis after history of a meniscus surgery and several attempted procedures by your doctor I am suggesting that you can use go ahead and use the monovisc injection
Monovisc injection is used to relief pains due to joint arthritis for at most 6 months
In regards for another revision surgery at the meniscus may give some reasonable result but not promising rather I will advise for knee replacement surgery which will give a definitive treatment and free from subsequent pains and swelling
I hope this helps Regards and get well soonest
