Is Knee Replacement Surgery Advisable While Having Heart Disease?
Hello! My mother aged58yr 2heart attacks 2stent one was in 2002 & second was in last year April 2016. Weight 81kg &suffering from osteoarthritis wants undergo with knee replacement. I m concern about the risk factors of heart condition but at the same time she is suffering from horrible knee pain. Please advise that should we go for knee replacement surgery at this time?
Any major surgery would carry a certain amount of risk. Any person going for major surgery will be evaluated medically and given the fitness for the procedure.
The same would apply to your mother. If the Physician and Anesthetist give fitness for surgery after their evaluation, then she can undergo knee replacement surgery.
Kindly consult your doctors for further evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
