Is Lactogen Intake & TSH Levels In Children Related?
My daughter aged 5 still has lactogen 2 twice daily. Recently we found her thyroid gland swollen. We consulted a doctor who admitted the gland was swollen but asymptomatic. Her TSH level is 5. What do you recommend? Does lactogen2 has any thing got to do with her thyroid functioning
Lactogen 2 is a dried follow up formula for infants ,as the liquid part of the diet during and after weaning.Lactogen 2 contains important nutrients like protein, minerals and vitamins and Iodine that are essential for growth & development. The quantity of this nutrients is in proportion with the baby 's needs.
I don't think that formula is the culpit of your daughter's thyroid condition.
I suggets to talk with a pediatric endocrinologist in your area because in my opinion it is necessary to know even the free thyroid hormons(free T3 and freeT4),to understand the actual thyroid function. The actual TSH is normal. An ultrasound can help to see the thyroid structure in the actual condition and determine the diagnose.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Thank you for using HCM. Wish you good health.
