Is Laminectomy Advisable For Spasms In Lower Back?

am advised by neurosurgeon to have a lamineptomy to discs L3 and L4, but have been seeing new chiropractor who thinks may not be necessary. He has helped me a lot. Original problem was sciatica down left side causing pain especially at night (more than 2 years). then suddenly lower back went into spasm 2 weeks ago and chiro plus muscle relaxants made huge improvement. do you think a lamineptomy is the way to go ?
