Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have 2 questions 1. Is a sebastious cyst a blocked sweat gland along the neck i m allowed to lance. my doctor said it might be a lymph 2. what are the red marks you received after carrying something really heavy, in example you shoulder after carrying a dumbbell in a back pack
First of all, lancing a swelling by yourself when you are not sure whether it is a sebaceous cyst or a lymph node that’s swollen ( as your doctor told you). It is advisable to see a dermatologist and get to know what exactly the swelling is.
Secondly, yes the sebaceous cyst occurs when a sweat gland is blocked. whenever a patient comes to my clinic with similar problem, if its a small sebaceous cyst I advise him to wait and watch. If the size increases over the time then I suggest him to get an opinion from a surgeon if it needs to be removed immediately.
For the second query, when you carry some heavy weight for a long duration, its absolutely normal to see red marks on skin as its weight is putting pressure against the body. It should go away on its own slowly when the pressure is relieved.
Hope this helps. Feel free to contact for any further queries.
