Is Large Spot On Cheek A Symptom Of Cancer?

2 days ago I saw a cosmetic dermatologist to see about getting laser tx on scars and age spots and she instead referred me to a dermo that handles skin cancer and told me a large spot on my cheek was very suspicious and she didn t want to start any tx on me until I had it checked out. I have previously been told repeatedly by different docs that it was only an age spot but it has grown, darkened, and changed shape. Pretty nervous now and have an appt in 1 wk but looking for any info you may have. Also other issues am now wondering if there is any relation.

Hi dear ,

As per your query you have large spot on cheek and doctor is suspicious about it . Well there can be many reasons for for spot on face or anywhere on the body like hyperpigmentation , excessive exposure to sun , hormonal changes , age spot ( as you mention in query ) and could be some kind of skin cancer ( but rare chance ) . Yous dermatologist just want to clear his/her doubt that doesn't necessarily means that it is skin cancer . It could also be possible that mark is because of liver dysfunction . So there is nothing to panic and wait for you appointment without any worry .
