Is Less Bleeding During Periods Post Intake Of I Pill Normal?
Hello Doctor,
Me and my girlfriend had sex and the condom broke. So she took an ipill within 24 hours. After one week she had a bleeding which was not same as the original period levels. This lasted for 4-5 days with comparatively lesser bleeding than the original period.
1. Is she going to be pregnant ? [Based on the withdrawal bleeding]
2 She generally gets her period around 12-13. but today it is the 23rd and her actual period has not happened. When can I expect the actual period before I get nervous about pregnancy.

First of all the bleeding your girlfriend had a week after intake of I pill should be breakthrough bleeding. This bleeding occurs due to intake of I pill & is less in quantity & lasts for lesser days as compared to a period as you mentioned. Breakthrough bleeding means that I pill intake was successful in preventing pregnancy.
Now her next periods are delayed. Delay in periods is a common side-effect after intake of an emergency contraceptive pill like I-pill. The delayed periods are due to effect of high dose of levonorgestrel hormone in I pill which disrupts your normal menstruation & causes delayed periods. Your periods may be delayed for 1-2 cycles.
An emergency contraceptive pill like I-pill prevents pregnancy by inhibiting implantation of fertilized egg on to uterus. It is 95% successful if taken within 24 hours of intercourse. As you had taken the emergency contraceptive pill within an hour of sexual intercourse, pregnancy possibility should be less.
However, You are also advised a pregnancy test to rule-out even slightest chance of pregnancy
