Is Levoxyl Right Medication For Hashimotos?
my daughter has hashimotos and has been treated with levoxyl or similar drugs for 8 years. i am looking for an autoimmune specialist in california near stanford or san francisco that will address the autoimmune issue and not treat as a thyroid issue . she is losing her hair rapidly.

Hashimoto thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease affecting the normal thyroid function. Thereby decreasing the thyroid hormone levels in the blood. Low thyroid hormones inturn affects most of the normal metabolism in the body. Levoxyl is the levo-thyroxine helps to complement the low levels of blood thyroid hormones. Common side effects of the drug are hair loss, headache, irritability, etc.
Low thyroid hormone levels should be corrected appropriately to maintain normal lifestyle. So, levoxyl is one of the best thyroid hormone supplement for the disease. There is no cure for Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Low hormone levels should be treated for lifetime.
