Lichen amyloidosis is a chronic condition without potential for malignant transformation. Treatment is not required but can be employed for symptomatic or cosmetic reasons. Good respones have been achieved by treating with with topical or intralesional steroids, antihistamines, ultraviolet light therapy, laser therapy, dermabrasion, scalpel scraping and retinoid agents.
Certain populations are affected more than others, such as South-East Asians and South Americans and up to 10% report an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern. So you must be watchful and take early treatment if it happens.
